Artist Statement
Art-making is a life-long exploratory journey for me: a never-ending experiment in trusting creativity as works-in-progress evolve into their unique final forms.
My art training has been primarily self-directed, which has given me the freedom of widely ranging practice: drawing, printmaking, painting, sculpting, and work in new media. That diversity can baffle viewers, who sometimes ask which artists did which works.
But unifying that diversity is my underlying aim to create emotionally evocative, thought-provoking works with elegant, spare, or unusual esthetic resolutions. I want my artworks to have layers of meaning that invite and sustain close, thoughtful inspection, and yield unfolding discovery.
